Chapter 1418 - 1412: Rich and Reckless

Chapter 1418 - 1412: Rich and Reckless

After such an incident, knowing Avery was still anxious, Daemon couldn’t say much more. Maximilian glanced at his father then kindly said to Avery."You can go back for now, it’s just a small matter."

"Alright, Young Master." Avery nodded and bowed, looking like someone who follows whoever feeds them, then turned to leave. As she reached the door, Maximilian called her back again.

"Avery, wait a moment."

Avery turned around, noticing Maximilian’s hesitance. She smiled and said, "Young Master, if there’s anything, just let me know. I’m always grateful for kindness and pay it back!"

After Avery finished speaking, the father and son on the couch exchanged a knowing glance, the emotions in their eyes understood only by each other.

After a moment of hesitation, Maximilian spoke up.

"Avery, it’s nothing really, just keep an eye out as you mentioned last time."

Avery frowned in thought and, understanding Maximilian’s meaning, quickly nodded with a smile, "Don’t worry, Young Master, if Madam or the Second Master..."

"Ahem!" Avery had just mentioned Violet and Joseph when Maximilian cleared his throat against his lips, clearly reminding her of something.

Avery quickly glanced around, seeing no other maids in the living room, then slapped her mouth in self-reproach, "Look at me, no filter on my mouth!"

She immediately promised Maximilian, "Young Master and Master, rest assured, any situation, I will report to you first thing!"

Seeing Avery’s loyal display, Maximilian was pleased, smiled and said, "Avery, it’s not as serious as you make it out to be. My father and I just want to understand Uncle’s situation. After all, he’s not young anymore and we’re all relatives, we care."

"Got it, got it, rest assured, Young Master!" Avery nodded repeatedly, "Young Master, is there anything else? If not, I’ll head back first, otherwise, if the other Young Master knows I came here, he might get suspicious."

"Avery, the way you’re talking, it’s like you’re a spy. It’s nothing, you go ahead."

Maximilian’s attitude was humble and amiable, and addressing Avery as "you" delighted her greatly. Even with higher wages, a maid in a wealthy household is still just a servant.

For the first time, Avery felt "respected" leaving and kept telling herself to earnestly help the master of the sidelines; otherwise, she’d be really ungrateful.

Daemon did not react much, nor did Robert notify his brother Evander.

In the apartment, Juliana held a cloth as she wiped the shiny sink, complaining to her daughter.

"Sophia, ask Evander what he’s thinking. Since his mother agreed to you being together, and it’s been so long since you got the marriage certificate, why hasn’t he shown his face?"

Sophia was in the kitchen with her mother, holding a big bag of beef jerky, munching away while she snorted angrily, "Back then she almost killed her own grandson, humph! Maybe she’s too ashamed to face me now!"

Juliana turned to glance at her daughter, then continued wiping the sink.

"Ah! I can’t understand these wealthy people’s thoughts. First, she’s holding a press conference to announce a marriage alliance with some family, then after a few days, she agrees to you being with Evander! I just don’t get it. Is marriage a child’s play? How can they change their minds so easily!"

"What’s there not to understand, rich people are just willful!" Sophia tossed another piece of beef jerky into her mouth, saying nonchalantly.
