Chapter 1417 - 1411: An Affair
After Aunt Xu finished speaking, Victoria Thornton’s face instantly darkened, and she slammed the coffee table in front of her with a bang and roared. She scared Aunt Xu so badly it was like someone pulled the plug; she snapped her mouth shut on the spot.
"Daemon Lancaster! You’d better explain this to your mama here! Did you take a fancy to this cheap nanny? Say it! You see she’s younger than me so you’re thinking of hooking up with her on the side, aren’t you!"
Worked up like that, Victoria braced one knee on the sofa and grabbed Daemon Lancaster by the collar. She was a big, burly woman; once she had him by the collar she yanked him back and forth, gnashing her teeth as she cursed.
"Daemon Lancaster, I’m telling you! As long as I’m still breathing, you can forget about finding some other woman!"
"What the hell nonsense are you spouting?" Victoria’s chain reaction was too sudden. Daemon wasn’t on guard; by the time he reacted he’d already been pinned down by this fat woman.
Aunt Xu was still there, and besides, he was counting on her to help him dig up more valuable information. He hadn’t expected Victoria to think that way.
Whether for the sake of face or to put on a show for Aunt Xu, Daemon immediately glared and spoke righteously.
"Aunt Xu is the Lancaster Family’s housekeeper. As her employers, aren’t we supposed to help ease the worries of the house staff?
Besides, it’s just arranging a job. For the Lancaster Family it’s nothing but a trivial matter. We help someone out and don’t lose anything; doing a good deed like that, why not!"
Aunt Xu had already been scared speechless by Victoria. Seeing the couple "fighting" each other, she thought about stepping in to pull them apart but didn’t dare, so she just spun in place in a panic. Hearing Daemon say that, she hurriedly nodded her head in agreement.
"Madam, you’ve misunderstood, Master Daemon just pities me. Look at how noble, young, and pretty you are—how could Master Daemon ever fall for an old cook like me?"
Victoria shot Aunt Xu a look, then turned back to stare at Daemon. Her chubby hand was still clutching his collar; eyes bulging, she demanded.
"You two really didn’t fool around?"
Victoria came from a nouveau riche family; her father was a coal boss in Shanxi. Growing up in that kind of environment, she never learned how to act like some demure, soft-spoken little lady.
With a hot temper like hers, once she blew up it was all yelling and screaming, and if she couldn’t win in three lines, she’d just start swinging.
"Bullshit! Let go, now!" Daemon looked at his wife like she was an idiot. "At our age, you’re not even afraid people will laugh at us."
"This is just how your mama is! Whoever wants to laugh can laugh! Just don’t let me catch them, or I’ll knock their front teeth out!"
Victoria kept shouting at the top of her lungs, still refusing to release Daemon’s collar.
With the housekeeper right there, Daemon couldn’t very well start wrestling with her. Aunt Xu was so anxious she was practically hopping, but still didn’t dare come over to break it up.
Just then Maximilian Lancaster walked in. Seeing this scene, he frowned slightly, then said with a smile, "Mom, you and Dad doing your ’five-step routine’ again? At your age, you’re not afraid the aunties at home will laugh at you?"
"Hmph! I’ll spare you this time for our son’s sake." Victoria gave a hard tug, yanking Daemon a bit closer, lifted her chin and said, "Just wait till tonight and see how I deal with you!"
With that, she let go of Daemon’s collar, patted her hands, and sashayed off toward the kitchen, her big hips swaying.
"That woman, honestly!"
Watching Victoria’s back, Daemon straightened his collar and grumbled in displeasure.
Aunt Xu wanted to come over and have a look, but thinking of what Victoria had just said, she didn’t dare. She could only stand at a distance and ask with concern, "Master Daemon, you’re not hurt, are you?"
"Aunt Xu, don’t worry, Mom and Dad are just messing around." Maximilian walked over to the sofa with a smile and sat down.
"Oh, oh, that’s good, that’s good. Otherwise I’d really be to blame."
