Chapter 19 The Secret to Suya's Background
Chapter 19 The Secret to Suya's Background
Yangon General's Mansion, study.
Morning light streamed through the gaps in the heavy curtains onto the mahogany desk, while fine dust particles floated in the air. Lin Yu's right eye had fully recovered, and his deep pupils now shone with the faint light of an "emperor's eye," as if they could penetrate the appearances of all things in the world.
Before him lay a heavy mahogany box. This was the only possession of Suya's adoptive parents, which had been sealed by the military for many years, and was only taken out today by Lin Yu under the pretext of "assisting in the investigation."
"Big brother, are there really things left by Mom and Dad in here?" Suya stood to the side, her hands tightly gripping the hem of her clothes, her eyes filled with nervousness and anticipation.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here."
Lin Yu grasped her hand, giving her strength, then took a deep breath and gently brushed his fingers across the thick layer of dust on the surface of the box.
"Click".
With a soft click, the seemingly ordinary brass lock opened. Lin Yu didn't use a key, but instead used the "Emperor's Eye" to see through the lock's structure.
However, the moment the lid was lifted, Lin Yu froze.
There were no gold or silver jewelry, nor any letters or wills in the box, only a palm-sized, jet-black metal disc and several fragments of the same material.
"This is..." Suya covered her mouth in surprise.
Lin Yu didn't speak. He carefully took out the black disc. It was cold and heavy to the touch, made of neither gold nor stone, and its edges were engraved with extremely fine spiral patterns.
"Emperor's Eye, Scan and Analyze."
[Scanning...Material analysis in progress...]
Lin Yu's pupils suddenly contracted. In his vision, this black disc was not just an inanimate object; it contained extremely complex electromagnetic circuits and was emitting weak but stable energy fluctuations.
This is not a product that modern technology can easily manufacture.
"This is no ordinary relic." Lin Yu's voice was low and solemn. "It's a key, or rather, a beacon."
He gently stroked the patterns on the surface of the disc with his fingers. Under his "Emperor's Eye," those seemingly chaotic lines gradually connected to form a strange map.
"These patterns..." Lin Yu suddenly looked up at Su Ya, "Su Ya, do you still remember the abandoned lighthouse behind the orphanage?"
Suya shuddered, a flicker of fear in her eyes: "I...I remember. I survived the fire by hiding in the bushes behind the lighthouse. But that lighthouse collapsed a long time ago."
"No, it didn't collapse." Lin Yu flipped the disc over and pointed to an inconspicuous groove on the back. "Look at this shape."
Suya took a closer look and saw that it was an extremely simple triangle symbol with a line of tiny Burmese script engraved next to it.
"What does this line of text mean?" she asked.
Lin Yu's eyes instantly turned icy cold, and he slowly read the line of text in fluent Burmese:
"Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, reborn from the ashes."
"This is the symbol of that mysterious organization," Lin Yu said in a deep voice. "The force behind Zhao Kun, the shadow group that controls the global black market and money laundering network."
He paused, then forcibly pieced together the black disc with fragments of memories from his mind about the orphanage fire.
"That fire back then wasn't an accident at all," Lin Yu said, his voice laced with suppressed anger. "It was to cover up the existence of this key. Suya, your adoptive parents weren't ordinary jade merchants; they were 'Guardians' planted in Myanmar by that organization. They discovered this secret and wanted to destroy it, so they were silenced. And you…"
Lin Yu turned around, placed his hands on Su Ya's shoulders, and stared intently into her eyes.
"And you, Suya, the reason you were sent to the orphanage is because of your biological parents... They are the real high-ranking members of this organization, or rather, the 'traitors' that the organization wants to get rid of."
"What?!" Su Ya was struck dumb, staggering back a step. "You mean... my biological parents... they..."
"They didn't die back then." Lin Yu pointed to the triangular groove in the center of the disc. "This key requires two parts to activate. The half left by your adoptive parents is only the 'handle.' The real 'key teeth' are on you."
"On my body?" Suya touched her body blankly. "I don't have anything there."
No, you do.
Lin Yu reached out and gently brushed aside a strand of long hair behind Su Ya's ear, revealing an inconspicuous red birthmark on the back of her neck.
The shape of the birthmark perfectly matched the triangular groove on the disc!
"This...this is..." Suya covered the back of her neck in horror.
"This is the 'Crimson Code'." Lin Yu took a deep breath, a resolute glint in his eyes. "That organization has been searching for you. They set fire to the orphanage back then to force you to show yourself. Your adoptive parents sacrificed themselves, sending you into the chaotic crowd to save you. And now, this key has reappeared, and they will soon realize your existence."
The air in the study seemed to freeze.
A sudden, urgent knocking sound broke the deathly silence outside the window.
"General, something terrible has happened!" came the adjutant's anxious voice from outside the door. "News has come from the border: an unidentified armed force is approaching Yangon, and their flag... has a triangular symbol on it!"
Lin Yu suddenly turned around and looked at the gloomy sky outside the window.
"They came really fast."
He turned around, gripped Suya's hand tightly, and looked at her with a protective gaze.
"Suya, no matter whose daughter you were in the past, now you are just General Aung San's daughter, my sister, Lin Yu's sister. If you want to harm you, you'd better ask the knife in my hand for permission first!"
He picked up the satellite phone on the table and dialed Acha's number.
"Acha, prepare the helicopter. We're going to a place—the ruins of that abandoned lighthouse. Since they want to have fun, I'll accompany them to settle all the old scores, one by one!"
As Su Ya watched Lin Yu's resolute back, the fear in her eyes gradually dissipated, replaced by a determined light.
She touched the birthmark on the back of her neck and said softly, "Big brother, no matter what lies ahead, I'll go with you."
In the morning light, the two shadows clung tightly together, as if to withstand the approaching storm.
