Chapter 873 Change Like a Face
Chapter 873 Change Like a Face
Gengar's body returned to its pure, chubby form.
He sat there, panting heavily, his mouth slightly open, with a trace of black residue at the corner of his mouth.
His deep purple eyes regained their usual sly smile.
Gengar's voice was a little hoarse, "I thought I wouldn't see you guys again. I just got here and I got bullied by a bunch of ghost Pokémon."
"When I get angry, I swallow those bad guys. It's a bit difficult, but I can still digest them."
He looked down at his stomach and sighed.
"As a result, a constant stream of evil ghost Pokémon attacked me, making it difficult for me to eat, to the point that I lost control of myself."
Li Shuwen squatted down and reached out to wipe away the black marks from the corner of his mouth.
"It's alright now. With me and the Abandoned Monkey around, no one will dare to bully you again."
Dr. Kongmu walked over from behind, circled around the purple fat man, and looked at him as if he were looking at a rare exhibit.
"A Gengar that can devour evil spirits and completely purify them... that's quite a peculiar creature."
The chubby guy in purple raised his chin and grinned wickedly.
"I am the most evil Gengar in the world!"
Li Shuwen patted him on the head.
The force wasn't strong, but Gengar still shrank its neck slightly.
Then Gengar's laughter echoed through the cave, carrying a long-lost sense of ease.
As Li Shuwen stepped out of the cave, the dark red sunlight fell on his shoulders once more.
The red-eyed monster strode up from a distance, its eyes filled with anticipation and a hint of nervousness, its voice a few decibels faster than before:
"The guests came out so quickly, did the White Ghost get away?"
Li Shuwen squatted down and reached out to rub the chubby boy's head.
The chubby guy squinted his eyes and let out a comfortable gurgling sound.
"It's already taken care of. There's still a clump of the White Ghost left on the ground. You can go in and take a look."
"This chubby purple creature is the one I rescued from the white ghost."
The red-eyed monster's gaze lingered on the purple-faced fat man for a moment, then he hesitated before speaking:
"Could you please accompany me inside for a check-up?"
Li Shuwen led the red-eyed monster back into the cave.
The dark mass of energy was still lying on the ground, its edges slowly dissipating, like a piece of ice slowly melting.
A faint, scorching smell lingered in the air.
The red-eyed monster crouched down and extended its slender fingers to touch the edge of the energy ball. A slight burning sensation immediately came from its fingertips.
He withdrew his hand, stood up, the red light in his eyes brighter than before, and his voice carried a strong tremor.
"In such a short time... they've already completely annihilated the White Demon?"
He turned to look at Li Shuwen, his tone becoming one of undisguised amazement.
"Your Excellency is indeed incredibly powerful."
Stepping out of the cave, the red-eyed monster summoned a miniature car-sized Doronoaruto, its back covered with a soft, shadowy mat.
"Please get in the car, sir. We're heading back to base. Please describe what your Pokémon look like, and we'll help you find them based on that description."
"The first six are free, but the remaining Pokémon require you to pay an information fee or help the monsters complete tasks similar to eliminating the White Ghost."
Dorombalto took off smoothly and flew towards the city of Ruri.
Li Shuwen sat on the shadowy cushion, with the chubby purple-haired boy huddled beside him.
Dr. Kumo leaned against the other side of the edge, his eyes closed, as if he were taking a nap.
"Are there any other missions that require my assistance?" Li Shuwen asked.
The red-eyed monster, sitting at the front of the carriage, turned to look at him upon hearing this:
"There are indeed some tricky tasks that require help. I'll show them to the adults when I get back."
Back at their base in Crystal City, the red-eyed monster retrieved a somewhat worn mission book from under the counter.
He turned to the latest record and laid it out in front of Li Shuwen.
"Sir, the above lists the mission objectives, difficulty level, and rewards. You can select according to your needs."
Li Shuwen flipped through the pages, his gaze finally settling on the latest record: a new pheromone had taken over a small oasis.
The original owners of the oasis ran away with their treasures, entrusting the demons and monsters to help them reclaim their people.
Li Shuwen looked up at the red-eyed monster:
"I thought they would hire people to help them reclaim the oasis, but it turns out they only reclaimed their own people?"
The red-eyed monster shook his head: "Small oases are meant to appear and disappear at any time, so their value is naturally less than that of our people."
"Being able to lead my people to safety is more important than guarding an oasis that will disappear sooner or later."
Li Shuwen closed the task book and said:
"I'll take this quest. I'll give you the Pokémon information when I get back."
Red-Eyed Monster resummoned Draco, but Dr. Elm stood still.
Dr. Kongmu stood with his hands in his pockets, his gaze fixed on the dark red horizon in the distance.
"I have nothing more to advise you on. The rest of your journey is yours to walk. I'm going back to my wanderings."
Li Shuwen was about to get into the car when he suddenly remembered something and turned back:
"I was thinking of finding some ingredients after the mission to cook a meal for the Doctor and let him taste my cooking skills."
"In that case, I'll ask the demons and monsters to help me find some ingredients first. I'll set off after the doctor has eaten."
Dr. Kongmu turned around, a hint of curiosity flashing in his eyes:
"So, you're saying your cooking skills are quite good?"
Li Shuwen nodded: "Of course."
The red-eyed monster chimed in from the side, "If you need ingredients, sir, I do have some fresh produce from Liuli City."
"Although it can't compare to the richness of the real world, it's still passable in purgatory."
Li Shuwen borrowed the kitchen at the outpost, rolled up his sleeves, and skillfully washed vegetables, chopped them, kneaded dough, and started a fire, the hot oil sizzling in the pan.
After a meal is cooked, the whole house is filled with the steaming aroma of food.
Several plates were laid out on the table: golden-brown pancakes, thick vegetable soup, a sweet and sour sauce made from fruit, and a few perfectly roasted root vegetables.
The chubby purple creature was already squatting by the table, its paws resting on the edge, its eyes fixed on the plate of pancakes.
Dr. Kongmu sat down, picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of cake, put it in his mouth, chewed it a couple of times, and paused for a moment.
He took another sip of soup, put down the bowl, glanced around the table, and then picked up another piece of bread, moving a little faster than before.
The red-eyed monster also sat down and took a bite. He ate more restrainedly, but the red light in his eyes was noticeably brighter.
He put down his chopsticks, his tone filled with disbelief as if he had discovered something:
"The dishes made by the adult... actually have the effect of healing the soul. This is an extremely rare treasure in purgatory."
Dr. Kongmu scooped up a second bowl of soup with a spoon:
"Spending too much time in purgatory will make your soul thinner, as if it were being sanded by sandpaper."
"This feeling of making up for lost time... I haven't experienced it in a long time."
The chubby boy was already gnawing on a whole piece of bread, his mouth smeared with sauce, his cheeks bulging as he chewed.
Li Shuwen sat on the other side of the table, poured himself a bowl of soup, and slowly drank it.
The red-eyed monster put down the bowl, looked at Li Shuwen, and asked:
"Does the adult have any plans to prepare and sell dishes?"
Li Shuwen put down the soup bowl. "No problem. Since I can make money by cooking, I'm naturally willing to sell."
Dr. Kongmu picked up another piece of food with his chopsticks, chewed it, swallowed it, then put down his chopsticks, looked at Li Shuwen, and said:
"I suddenly find you a very interesting person. I've decided to travel with you for a while longer."
