Chapter 984 - 669: Loulanel Village [05] Luna Durant Tearfully Apologizes
The inspection team and the sisters team each prepared their own breakfast, with help from local elders, and ate local foods.
Nora Scott and April Thomason didn’t touch it, instead having the dry food they brought along.
After eating, the two of them went out together.
"Nora, April!" Jared Oliveira chased them, eagerly catching up, "What are you two up to, anything I can help with?"
He now avoids the inspection team and sisters team as much as possible.
Each one wants to use his "expert knowledge", but he knows nothing about this. Nora Scott and April Thomason had supported him before, but now without them, he’s restless.
Nora glanced at him, "Focus on maintaining good relationships with those three, wait until they come to you for favor."
"What if I get exposed?"
"You’ve set your identity, just staying mysterious, no one will suspect you," Nora said casually.
"..."
You guys in the entertainment industry sure know how to play with identity.
April raised her eyebrow at him, "Stay sharp."
"Hey."
Jared obediently nodded.
*
Sending Jared back inside, Nora and April walked along the route inside Maze Village.
Halfway, they encountered the Durant Sisters.
The Durant Sisters had just eaten at a villager’s home, apparently not to their taste, as they walked out with frowns.
They happened to run into Nora and April.
Seeing Nora, Luna Durant sneered, and sarcastically asked, "What are you two up to?"
"Just strolling," Nora answered lazily.
"Aren’t you afraid you’ll get lost and can’t get out?" Luna mocked coldly.
"Only an idiot wouldn’t find the way out," Nora replied dismissively, her words full of disdain.
"..." Luna was infuriated, gritting her teeth, she shouted angrily, "Stop being arrogant, be careful that when you’re found, only your bones remain and no one will be there to bury you!"
Seeing her so furious, Nora instead chose not to argue, turned slightly to look at Stella Durant, smiled, and asked, "Is it really okay to be so antagonistic towards me?"
Stella furrowed her brow.
"My sister is being childish," Stella conceded, paused, tugged on Luna’s sleeve, and coldly reminded her, "Apologize."
"I won’t."
Luna stubbornly turned away.
Stella said nothing, but gave her a cold stare.
Seen by her chilling look, Luna dared not be wilful, frowned at Nora, even though unwilling, she relented and mumbled, "I’m sorry."
"I don’t argue with half-wits," Nora replied flatly.
"..."
Luna was so enraged she could have torn Nora apart on the spot.
Clearly, Stella was not pleased to see Nora being so unruly, but had to endure it, she coldly warned, "There’s no signal in the village, you two better stay safe and not wander too far."
"Thank you."
Nora smiled, unconcerned.
"..."
Her ease and poise were truly infuriating.
Nora left.
April casually watched the drama unfold, curled her lips into a smile, and as the sisters’ gaze turned towards her, she raised two fingers, gestured to her temple, and pointed outward slightly, saying with a grin, "Bye."
Quite cool.
Luna’s face turned slightly red.
...
"Sis, Nora is about to openly turn against us, why do we still have to consider her?" Luna asked Stella with resentment.
"As long as we control the entrance and location, we have the capital to collaborate with her," Stella said, "Once there’s a chance for collaboration, it’s not suitable to fall out."
"But she behaves like that——"
"We are the ones seeking her, not the other way around!" Stella reprimanded her coldly.
Luna immediately fell silent.
After a pause, Stella continued, "They don’t know where they’re headed, you follow them secretly, I’ll go talk to Mr. Oliveira."
"I just saw Annabelle Pinto also went to find Jared," Luna softly reminded.
"It’s alright."
As long as there’s mutual interest, collaborating with anyone is the same.
The sisters parted ways, Stella went to find Jared, Luna went to follow Nora and April.
However——
Luna was unlucky, encountered Nora and April, experts in counter-surveillance.
Truth be told, Luna’s skills were decent, fine against ordinary people, hard to be noticed, but April was professional, specially trained by the government, and Nora had honed her skills through experience, not lacking either, they noticed Luna’s tailing from the start.
"Is she dumb, being so obvious?" April nearly wanted to teach Luna tracking skills on the spot.
"She is dumb,"
Nora swiftly replied.
April: "..."
Afterward, April asked, "What do you plan to do?"
"Let her follow," Nora said, then deliberately glanced back, glimpsed Luna’s hasty attempt to hide, laughed, "Barely started, what if she ends up finding her way home while trailing us?"
"..." April was stunned, "What grudge do you hold?"
Nora shrugged, "She covets my husband."
April: "..." However you please, go all out.
As they spoke, they passed a local’s house, an old lady was washing rice in front, due to her age, her movements were slow, not very nimble.
Apparently, the village head had informed them beforehand, so upon seeing Nora and April, two unfamiliar young women, she wasn’t surprised, instead, kindly nodded at them.
April smiled back, intending to pass by, but after walking a bit, she noticed no one beside her, turned back to see Nora had walked up to the old lady...
The two began chatting lively.
April: ?
She walked over, found Nora chatting with the old lady in the local dialect, very fluently, yet April couldn’t understand a word.
For a while.
Nora handed the old lady some cash, then looked aside at April, saying, "Let’s go."
Raising her hand, April closed her dropped jaw, astonished she asked, "How many dialects have you used on this journey?"
"More or less the same, easy to pick up," Nora smiled, then asked back, "Aren’t you also familiar with many dialects in Cloud Province?"
Just like the northwest is Nora’s territory, Cloud Province is April’s territory.
No difference.
April understood.
She asked, "What did you talk to her about?"
"I inquired about that ’flattop’ thing."
"Did you find out anything?"
"Yeah."
