Chapter 159: Taking Loan To Pay Back The Loan
Chapter 159: Taking Loan To Pay Back The Loan
"Yo Maple, so, how much for all this??"
"Woolie!!"
"Sha!!"
Bam!!
Raiden slammed down an old wooden crate on the countertop, attracting attention from all the nearby people, who pointed at him and started whispering as if they were seeing an ignorant guy enter the big city for the first time.
But Raiden ignored all those pompous asses. He didn’t care about the opinion of anybody else. Only he knew the difficulty he faced while carrying such a huge crate of Terra Blocks on a motorbike.
"It’s good to see you again, Raiden. How are you? I’m doing fine as well. Thank you for asking." Maple fired back in her reply, making Raiden grin sheepishly.
"Sorry, sorry, how are you, Maple? You are looking beati-ahem, I mean good today. Very nice dress." Raiden gave her a thumbs-up. He had been trying to control his instinctual habit to praise the beauty of other women.
"Really, Mr Raiden? Really? I’m wearing the storefront dress, and that’s what you chose to compliment me on? You seriously need to learn how to give compliments to people."
Seeing Raiden just laugh in response with an awkward smile, she just shook her head before he started doing the inventory.
"Let’s see what you got...oh?! Let’s talk in a more private place." Maple signalled someone in the staff, who picked up the wooden crate, and both he and Raiden started following behind her to a private room.
After getting seated on the sofas, both of them faced each other as Maple broke the silence.
"These are all S Tier Terra Blocks!! Those are very rare to find in the market. They are so hard to buy that you can’t even buy them even if you have the money. It’s just that..." Maple’s voice trailed off as she had no idea how to say the next words without sounding rude.
"Just what??" Raiden leaned forward and asked.
"It’s just that... The skill used to create these is incredibly low-tier. I will go as far as to say the skill is completely trash. I have personally never seen such low-tier S Rank Terra Blocks in my entire life. I am truly stunned and speechless by the bad quality. It’s so bad that I—"
"Alright, alright, I get it. Ok, just stop for a second. I’m sorry if my skill level is so bad it’s trash. Just stop talking about it, okay? And tell me how much." Raiden felt invisible arrows go through his heart after hearing her speech. She was so polite and helpful in the past. Since when did she start getting so personal and insulting?
"Ahem, I am sorry, I got a little carried away. Just wait a second, someone is bringing the detector device. We will quickly measure everything and give you the final price for it."
Raiden didn’t have to wait too long. Soon, a girl walked in with a weighing scale-like device and started putting the Terra Cubes on it, one by one. Measuring the grid and noting it down one by one. Since the wooden crate wasn’t too big, she was finished in no time.
"The total comes out to 49,720,000 Credits in total miss. It’s mostly a mix of Common and Good grade berries."
After handing the tablets to Maple, the woman bowed down before exiting the room.
"...I’m really sorry to say this, Mr Raiden, but once again I feel my heart hurt after seeing the quality you are creating with Tier 3 or 4 Terra Cubes using S Rank berries?! That’s just a waste of heavenly resources. Next time, please sell those to us. I will give you a much better price than the final product itself." Maple spoke earnestly.
But to Raiden, it felt like she was just insulting him and his ability to create Terra Blocks.
"Don’t worry, ’Dear Miss Maple’, from next month, you will see a much higher quality of Terra Blocks being supplied to you. Just bear with this one for now."
"If you say so, Raiden. Don’t worry. Since you’re an old customer, I’ll round that up to 50 million Credits and send them to your account." Maple picked up a tablet, ready to settle the payment on the spot.
"Wait!!" Raiden grabbed her hand, making her look up in confusion.
"Ahem, I mean... I needed a little bit more than that." He rubbed his head, feeling a little embarrassed.
"We have already given you 31 million worth of interest-free loan. I don’t think we can do more than that without charging a little bit more interest." Maple’s smile turned into an amused one as she looked at him.
"You can’t call it a loan like that. Advance payment!! You can consider it an advance payment for my next shipment of Terra Blocks next month. I am not asking for too much. Just 15 million Credits. That’s all. That’s like pocket change to you." Raiden spoke with a straight, shameless face. He had no other way either.
Banks weren’t ready to give him an instant loan due to him being a self-employed person. They wanted the collateral of his whole farm for that 15 million. There was no way in hell he was going to put something worth a billion for just a 15 million loan.
And he was already in so much debt that he did not know how to pay it all back. That’s when he thought of a solution: Taking a loan to pay back a loan!!
It sounded brilliant on paper until it didn’t. He was stuck in an endless loop of taking loans, paying back loans, taking long-term loans, and paying back loans again and again.
Maple was the only person he could borrow the money from. He knew he could also borrow money from Morgana, but his male pride did not let him borrow money from his girlfriend.
He even refused the boarding money she agreed to pay when she came to stay at his farmhouse. It still hurt his heart a little bit when he thought about it.
"Okay, Raiden, Your proposal, I..."
